One in four deaths worldwide is related to thrombosis, the formation of potentially deadly blood clots. Recognized annually on October 13, World Thrombosis Day places a global spotlight on thrombosis as an urgent and growing health problem through hundreds of educational events in countries around the world.
World Thrombosis Day (WTD) is led by the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) and Precision BioLogic is proud to support it as a Global Contributor to increase global awareness of thrombosis, including its causes, risk factors, signs/symptoms and evidence-based prevention and treatment.
The date of 13 October was chosen for WTD as it is the birthday of Rudolf Virchow, the German physician and pathologist who first coined the term “thrombosis” and made crucial advances in our understanding of it.
